PRO STOCK RULES


DESCRIPTION OF CAR

Any North American-built car or S-10, Ranger, or Dakota mini truck with 108" minimum wheelbase may be used. No foreign cars or convertibles allowed. There will be no age limit on cars. Cars to remain stock appearing. All combustibles, chrome, pot metal and glass to be removed. Everything must remain stock except for the following:

BODIES

b1. May be replaced with factory steel body or stock-appearing aftermarket plastic, fiberglass, or aluminum race body. 1980 or newer Ford and Chrysler unibodies may be kkkireplaced with Ford or Chrysler full frames (note: may be shortened to 108" min wheelbase). Frames and crossmembers may not be modified in any way for engine kkkiplacement. Engine must be in stock location. Body must be centered between wheels as on stock vehicle.

b2. Firewall and floor may remain stock or be replaced by minimum 22 gauge sheetmetal. Engine compartment must be totally sealed from driver's compartment. Cars with kkkiexhaust pipes running through the passenger compartment must have the exhaust pipes totally enclosed.

b3. Inner fenders may be removed and body may be gutted.

b4. Wheel wells may be radiused.

b5. Plastic or fibreglass nose cone may be used. If fenders must be trimmed for front nose cone, front must retain stock dimensions. All other body parts must be stock
kkkiexceptifor patch panels. Patch panels must be less than 50% of stock panel and made of minimum 22 gauge steel except doors which may be 100% made of
kkkiminimum 22 gaugeisteel. Patch panels must be stock appearing.

b6. Crossmember under engine may be modified for oil pan, exhaust and fuel pump clearance. Any cutouts must be boxed.

b7. Bumpers must be stock appearing but may be reinforced. Both bumper horns must be strapped to body or cut off 6" from outside of tires. No step bumpers on trucks.

b8. Front and rear spoilers permitted but must be less than 6" in height.

b9. Hood scoop if used must be less than 3" in height.

10. Tires may not protrude more than 6" outside of body.

11. Stock latching of hood and trunklid must be removed and replaced with hood pins. The hood and trunklid must be securely fastened on all 4 corners and reinforced with kkkiminimum 2" washers around pin holes.

12. No mirrors protruding past door allowed.

13. Missing body panels must be replaced by next race weekend.

14. Windshield mandatory on driver's side or optional full windshield. Must be Lexan (no plexiglass) and securely fastened to body. Cracked windshields must be replaced by kkkithe next race weekend at the tech crew's discretion. No door windows allowed. Quarter or rear windows if used must be Lexan. Trucks must have rear window.

15. Must have a vertical bar in centre of windshield opening to deflect hood upwards in case of accident. Minimum 1" x 1/8" flat bar or equivalent.

16. Rubber body mounts may be removed or replaced with steel mounts.

17. Frame must retain stock configuration.

18. Truck box floor must remain stock except for rear wheelwells (may be removed) and for fuel tank installation. Bulkhead at front of box may be removed for roll cage kkkiclearance. Steel tonneau cover and tailgates are optional. If tailgate is used it must be welded or bolted shut.

19. May use single bucket seat or racing seat. Must be securely attached to the roll cage from the lower left door bar to a bar in the center of the vehicle.

SUSPENSION

b1. Weight jacks allowed. In rear of coil spring cars buckets may be used for weight jacks. Leaf spring car weight jacks may be used with top eye that can not go higher than kkkistock.

b2. Springs may be changed or altered but must be mounted in stock location.

b3. Any O.E.M. sway bar may be used and end links may be altered. Must use stock type frame mounts in stock location.

b4. One shock per wheel. Shock mounts may be altered. No air or coilover shocks allowed. Racing shocks may be used.

b5. May use aftermarket nylon, teflon or polyurethane bushings and mounts. No metal bushings allowed except on front upper control arms.

b6. Must use stock lower control arms, shafts and spindles for the chassis being used. May use steel aftermarket upper control arms and control arm mounting brackets. kkkiAftermarket, stock type tie rods, ends and ball joints allowed (i.e. screw in Chrysler ball joints may be used in Chev, etc.). Control arms may be cut out for weight
kkkijack and ishock absorber clearance only. Control arms must not be reinforced. Moog aftermarket offset upper control arm shafts allowed.

b7. Leaf springs must use stock type shackles. No sliders allowed. Rubber spring pad bushings on rear end may be removed.

b8. May use lowering blocks between rear axle housing and leaf springs. No adjustable lowering blocks allowed.

b9. Must have skid plate on RF lower control arm. Must be minimum 8" long, 3" wide, and 1/4" thick with turned up ends. Skid plate must be mounted so it will contact the kkkitrack before the rim or suspension.

10. Camber on right front wheel may be altered in location of stock adjustment. Other alignment and suspension adjustments must be within the limits of the stock parts with kkkino modifications.

ENGINES

b1. Maximum 360 c.i. factory engine size. Cleanup overbore maximum .060".

b2. Must be make to make (i.e. no Dodge engine in Chev car)(truck parts allowed in cars i.e. truck 4-bolt block)(Any GM engine allowedbin any GM car, i.e. Chev350 in Buick kkkiRegal).

b3. No turbo or fuel injected engines allowed.

b4. Balancing and blueprinting allowed.

b5. Durability improvements that do not increase power are allowed. The following are permitted: windage trays, crank scrapers, cleaning out of oil passages, high volume oil kkkipumps, rod bolts, stud kits, modified oil pans, lifter valley baffles, stainless steel valves, aftermarket valve springs, pushrod guide plates, hardened push rods, steam kits. kkkiNo dry sumps allowed. Other durability mods up to tech crews discretion - ask.

b6. No stroking or destroking.

b7. Must use stock length O.E.M. connecting rods.

b8. No aluminum or aftermarket blocks, heads, or rods. No Chev angle plug heads.

b9. Dished or flat top pistons only.

10. No porting or polishing or gasket matching of heads or manifolds.

11. No angle planing of heads.

12. Engines with non-adjustable valve train may be converted to adjustable but rocker arms must be O.E.M.

13. Heads must have correct size valves for that casting number.

14. No swirl polished or undercut stem valves.

15. Valve sizes must be as follows:
bbbChev: 1.94" I & 1.50" E
bbbDodge 360: 1.88" I & 1.6" E
bbbDodge 340: 2.02" I & 1.6" E
bbb351W: 1.84" I & 1.54" E
bbb351C: 2.19" I & 1.71" E
bbb- for other engines ask tech crew.

16. Any hydraulic lifter, non roller cam with O.E.M. lift specs. and any duration may be used. Valve lift maximum: Chev: .450" I & .460" E Dodge: .444" I & .453" E Ford 351W: kkki.470" Ford 351C: .490" -for other engines ask tech crew.

17. Stock rocker arms with stock ratio for that engine only. No roller rockers allowed.

18. Fiberglass bodied cars may use either (option 1) stock cast iron intake manifold with stock 4 bbl carb or Holley 4412 or (option 2) bVictor Jr or Stealth manifold with Holley kkki4412. Steel bodied cars may use any single carb manifold and carb. No modifications to carb except removal of choke butterfly, shaft and mechanism and tuning
kkki(rejetting, etc.). May use maximum 1¼" (with gaskets) carb spacer or 2-barrel adapter.

19. Any distributor type ignition allowed except for magneto and MSD.

20. Hi-volume mechanical fuel pump allowed. No electric or belt driven fuel pumps.

21. Oil coolers are allowed if satisfactory safety precautions are taken-ask tech crew.

22. No Corvette or aluminum or machined flywheels.

23. No marine or other reverse rotation engines.

24. Engine may be mounted no further back than #1 spark plug in line with the lower balljoint. Must be minimum 12" from ground to center of front crankshaft bolt. kkkiAftermarket engine mounts allowed. Torque strap or chain may be used.

25. Alternator and power steering optional.

26. Pulleys may be changed (i.e. deep groove pulleys).

27. Electric fans allowed.

28. No ceramic or other performance enhancing coatings of engine parts allowed.

29. 94 octane pump gas only. No aviation or racing fuels allowed.

30. Sealing of engines is mandatory. Cost will be $25 per engine, per trip, whether engine is found to be sealable or not.

EXHAUST SYSTEM

b1. Stock cast iron manifolds or headers allowed.

b2. One pipe per manifold or header.

b3. Exhaust must exit behind driver.

b4. Maximum 2½" OD exhaust pipes with mufflers no louder than Dynomax 24215 mufflers which are recommended. Maximum 2½" mufflers.

b5. Crossover pipes allowed.

b6. No exhaust wrapping allowed.

TRANSMISSION

b1. Any O.E.M. transmission allowed.

b2. Must have all forward and reverse gears.

b3. Must use stock flywheel, clutch, torque converter, etc. Minimum 10½" clutch. No aftermarket, aluminum, Corvette or machined flywheels allowed.

b4. Trans cooler allowed but must be isolated from driver and mounted inside roll cage. All hoses must be double clamped and flaring is recommended.

b5. All cars must have a scattershield or have minimum 3/16" conveyor belting above the bellhousing (must be full width of bellhousing).

b6. Trans crossmember may be fabricated.

REAR ENDS

b1. Any regular production automotive rear end allowed.

b2. Must be mounted in stock location with stock control arms or leaf springs for frame being used.

b3. Gear ratios may be changed.

b4. May use posi, spool, welded spider gears, etc. No aftermarket differentials allowed.

TIRES AND WHEELS

b1. Club tires or 9¼ " tread DOT approved tires only.

b2. Maximum 8" wide rims.

b3. Steel wheels only.

b4. Reinforced or off-road quality rim mandatory on RF.

b5. Minimum 1/2 " studs on RF wheel.

b6. Bigger wheel studs optional on all wheels.

ROLL CAGE

b1. Four point or better roll cage mandatory with gussets recommended on main cage corners.

b2. Main cage must be minimum 1 15/32" OD, .095" wall steel pipe.

b3. Must have minimum 4 bars on left side (extending into driver's door) and three bars minimum on right side of passenger's compartment. Top bars to be no more than 6" kkkibelow top of door. Must have 2 rows of vertical bars between all left side door bars.

b4. Posts to be welded securely to frame or to minimum 4" square 3/16" thick steel plate fastened to floor.

b5. Front and rear hoops may be used. Must be behind grille in front and be within body in rear of car.

b6. Frame may be reinforced and unibody cars may have subframe connectors.

b7. Bars that could come in contact with driver must have approved padding on them.

b8. No nerf bars on outside of car.

b9. Roll cage must be passed by tech crew.

FUEL SYSTEM

b1. Stock gas tank must be removed and replaced with a fuel cell of 22 U.S. gals or less. Plastic fuel cells must be in an approved can.

b2. Tank must be at least 18" in front of rear bumper, between frame rails.

b3. Tank must be securely attached to car with steel straps and bolts (tech crew discretion).

b4.Tank must be completely isolated from driver.

b5. Must have an approved gas cap.

b6. Filler neck must be in trunk compartment or in pick up box.

b7. Must have vent pipe extending below bottom of tank and on left side or an approved check valve.

b8. Must have adequate size hole under tank to allow any spillage to escape.

b9. Cool cans allowed.

10. No more than 6" of rubber fuel line may be used in one location.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

b1. Battery must be securely fastened to car, preferably to the roll cage and completely isolated from driver.

b2. Battery must be in a metal box if not mounted in interior of car. If mounted in interior, it must be either in a plastic boat box or metal box and secured with steel
kkki hold-downs. Installation must be passed by tech crew.

b3. Plastic "boat" battery box may be used to cover battery but battery must be secured to car with steel hold downs.

b4. All switches must be clearly labeled and be located where safety personnel and driver (while strapped in) can easily reach them.

b5. Alternators are optional.

BRAKES

b1. Working 4 wheel hydraulic brakes mandatory.

b2. May be upgraded to disc brakes. No aftermarket brake calipers, rotors, pedals, or master cylinders (i.e. Ford 9" rear end may have
bbbGM calipers but no Wilwood calipers)..

b3. One adjustable proportioning valve may be used for front to rear bias only.

b4. All brakes must work.

COOLING SYSTEMS

b1. Any radiator allowed as long as it fits under hood of car without excessive modifications.

b2. Electric fans allowed.

b3. No heater cores or other coolers allowed in driver's compartment.

b4. No antifreeze allowed.

b5. Shield to cover top of fan is mandatory.

b6. Must have minimum ½ gal overflow container mounted in engine compartment.

WEIGHT

b1. Car must weigh at least 3200 lbs. with driver and fuel tank of fuel. Must be maximum 55% left side and 47% rear weight.

b2. Any ballast weights must be painted white, have car # painted on them and be attached to frame with minimum ½" bolts.

Items not specifically covered in the rules are to remain stock. Any "grey areas" in the rules are to be referred to the tech crew. If you have any doubts-ask the tech crew first!!

Any equipment that the tech crew considers exotic or not in the intent of the rules will be considered illegal.
