There
was a lot of racing action at the Terrace Speedway with four thunder
cars and eight mini stocks on the track. Three new mini stocks arrived
at the track, with one of them being built just that week. Thunder
car #4 driver Kris Sweet set fast time of the day with a 20.07 second
time in. In the mini stock class it was the ever fast #122 with
Tyler Morton behind the wheel, setting a time of 21.22 seconds,
still significantly slower than his track record breaking time of
20.72 that he set on Mothers Day. The day started off with a crash
as rookie driver Rod Hancock in the #24 mini stock lost control
of his car in turn four on the first lap of the first race of the
day and went spinning down the front straight where he collected
#166 Trevor Reinert in a head on collision, disabling both cars
for the rest of the evening. After cleaning up the mess and removing
the damaged cars from the track the race was restarted and won by
long time racer Dan Parnell in mini stock car #1. Dan and his partner
Terry Reinert built this car in a period of five days, so car #1
won in its first appearance at the track. Dan Parnell was quite
busy Saturday night as he was driving three different cars. His
own thunder car #4, his shared mini stock car #1 and the new #77
thunder car of Terry Reinert. There was a lot of good racing this
evening and as always a lot of close racing between father Grant
Morton in the mini stock #115 and son Tyler Morton in car #122 as
they traded off wins all night. In the thunder class cars #114 and
#4 were very evenly matched with close racing in both the A and
the B Thunder classes. Thunder car #4 came out ahead taking most
of the wins at the finish line. Memorial races will be on the next
race day Saturday, July 11. Time trials 6pm and racing starts at
7 pm.
